Ussel Castle
Castles · 5/1/2011 · Original language: Russian
According to historical research, Ussel Castle was built in the mid-14th century, between 1341 and 1345.
Ussel is considered one of the first castles built in the “monoblock” style. The southern side of the castle is dotted with mullioned windows — each different from the others — and is crowned by two small towers connected by a watchmen’s trench. Above the entrance is a machicolation.
The castle’s last owner, Baron Marc Beech, transferred the castle to the ownership of the Aosta Valley regional administration in 1983.
