Demänovská Ice Cave

Caves · 8/6/2008 · Original language: Russian

The cave was first discovered in 1719.

Bear bones were found here.

The cave is unique for its ice chamber with icicles and stalactites made of ice.

However, when we were here in August, almost all of the most beautiful features had melted. It’s better to come here in winter or spring.

The cave is equipped with stairs and is lit, so it can be visited without any problems even by someone far from speleology. Whew.

Demänovská Ice Cave

This is what the ice hall is supposed to look like. We didn’t catch it like this. The photo was stolen from another website. Oh, and by the way. The permission to take photos in the cave is very expensive (more expensive than the excursion), so all our personal photos are terrible. Because we took them quickly so we wouldn’t get caught.

You’ll leave here happy and frozen.
