The castle is located in a very picturesque place! Here the two rivers, the Vltava and the Otava, merge.
The castle was built at the end of the 13th century. In 1337, the Rožmberk family was actively engaged in strengthening the castle. And it was not in vain, one might say! During the Hussite Wars, in 1429, the castle was besieged for 4 months! And it did not fall!
At the end of the 17th century, Zvíkov was turned into a granary. This was the beginning of the end, and the castle gradually fell more and more into disrepair...
Since 1947, the castle has belonged to the state. Significant work has been carried out here.
Now it is a wonderful complex, a very beautiful place for walks!
