Chalong

Asia 2016

Itinerary

The temperature appeared as suddenly as it disappeared today. We worked again. We went to Chalong Beach — it turned out that it wasn’t a beach at all, but a pier. Nobody swims there; boats bring tourists to the islands and take them back. We didn’t get to swim again.

During the day we had the soup we had come to love again, and in the evening, when we went out to eat, it was already around 10 p.m. and many cafes had closed. One place near our hotel was still open, so we went in there and had pad thai. The prices there were not low, but surprisingly there were several locals sitting there, eating and drinking something.

Then a mysterious Thai man came in and ordered just a large bottle of beer. This despite the fact that beer there is expensive already, and in places like this it’s twice as expensive. He sat there, drinking beer and playing some game on his phone… You can never understand how another person’s soul and world are put together.
