Day 6, January 24

Railay

Asia 2016

Itinerary

We got up early, had some coffee, and went to the pier. There we bought tickets to the Railay Peninsula.

Railay is known for its beautiful beaches, and it can only be reached by boat because of the impassable mountains. Railay has several beaches, and we visited them all. In one small bay, we even went snorkeling, although the water was rather murky and there weren’t many fish.

We were in a huge amazing cave, climbing around there on our own. To get there, we had to climb up a bamboo ladder. I felt like a caveman.

Day 6, January 24

We swam a lot, the water was very warm. Here, more than anywhere else, we experienced the tides firsthand. While we were walking from one beach to another, the water level dropped much lower.

Another beach in Railay

Around 4 in the afternoon, we decided to head back to the mainland.

Railay is very beautiful, but apart from the beaches and climbing the rocks (besides the beaches, Railay is known as a place for rock climbing, and there really are a lot of climbers here), there is nothing else to do there.

We had dinner at the café opposite our hotel; we’ve already really settled in here.
