San Miguel 2025

Day 5: July 2

Mosteiros - Sete Cidades

San Miguel 2025

Itinerary

This trip was special in a certain way.

Although all trips are special in their own way.
But on this one, we allowed ourselves not to rush anywhere.

And it felt so nice.

Morning. View of our village, Ginetes.

During the day we headed to the beach in the neighboring town of Mosteiros.

It was quite crowded and noisy there, and the sun was blazing. So we swam and moved on.

Right by the beach, vegetables and fruits are sold straight from a truck.

Next, we’re going to see the most popular place on the island - Sete Cidades.

Sete Cidades is a lake (made up of two lagoons) in the crater of the volcano of the same name.

From the outside, it seems like these are two separate lakes, because the lagoons even differ in color.

One lagoon has blue water, and the other is green.

But geographically, it is one body of water.

Of course, there are many viewpoints around Sete Cidades.

Today we’re heading to the least touristy one (judging by Google Maps reviews).

A good paved road leads all the way to the top.

There are people, but really not many.

And the views are very beautiful.

Sete Cidades. The great blue lagoon. And beyond the bridge, a smaller green one.
