In the evening, we made a new little house for our squirrel, which we feed with nuts.
Pigeons had taken to climbing into the old house, and we don’t like pigeons :) So we had to invent an anti-pigeon house.

February began with my birthday. Volchiy gave me a huge 32-inch monitor. (And I never managed to get used to it, so I still keep sitting just at my laptop. And in the end the monitor moved over to Volchiy.)

The little house turned out cute :) A couple of days later, our squirrel came.
She didn’t recognize the house, sniffed it, a little cautiously, but still decided to climb into it for a nut :)

The first week of February was warm and sunny. The Rhine overflowed its banks and flooded the adjacent pastures. Where we used to walk along the river, everything was covered with water.

Water on the pastures
And a week later, it turned colder and snow fell.

The same angle, only now with snow :)

Our Street in the Snow
All the water on the pastures had turned into a real skating rink. I had never seen such a huge crowd near the Rhine before!
It seemed that people from all over Düsseldorf had come here to go ice skating and play hockey.
Everyone was playing, from young to old; it was quite a funny sight.

But the snow and subzero temperatures did not last long; a week later, everything had melted. Green grass appeared again along the Rhine, only sometimes covered with a transparent crust of fresh ice. It was very beautiful — grass beneath untouched transparent ice.

It was hard to believe that just a week ago everything here was covered in snow!

Ready to depart!
In the evening, Volchiy cooked borscht for the first time in his life. The borscht turned out very tasty.
I honestly didn’t expect that I would enjoy eating it so much!
The new knives are serving us well, and in many ways it was thanks to them that Volchiy wanted to do some cooking.
He says he likes cutting everything.

Delicious!
On Sunday the weather was wonderful again, and we went to the nearest forest.
I have a favorite clearing there near the fir trees. We always sit there on logs and drink tea.

On the last weekend of February, we went to look at a BMW.
This is a long story about how we geared up to travel to the ends of the earth and back (300 km one way) to see a BMW that we really liked.
We rented a car, arranged everything, and mentally prepared ourselves for the trip.
And then on Friday evening, when I called to confirm the meeting, I was told that the car had already been sold…

Wolf and BMW
It was cool on Saturday. After lunch, the weather turned really bad and the sky was completely covered with clouds.
After inspecting the car, we went for a little walk in the nearby woods. There are many old mines in this area.

Entrance to the old mine. Boarded up.
Inspecting the car lifted our spirits a little. And on Sunday the weather improved too — it became warm and sunny again. So we decided to go to the forest near Bonn. It turned out to be a very popular place for walks — there were crowds of people there, but the forest was large and we found paths where we were walking practically alone. The walk turned out great.

In the forest. That evening, tired but satisfied, we drove to the airport to return the car.

Returning to another world...
On the way home on the subway, there was a strange feeling — as if I were returning to another world….
Somewhere back there remained a world of trees, birds, peace, and silence, a world where it smells of wet earth and last year’s leaves.
