Airport in Lima. Waiting for a connecting flight to Antofagasta.
We arrived in Antofagasta at half past four in the morning. We spent a very long time going through passport control.
The airport in Antofagasta is tiny. We waited until 8 a.m. for the car rental desk to open.
I found an outlet and made us some tea (nowhere without a kettle!).
How nice that we had cookies with us :)
We rented a car - a Cherry Tiggo 7. A Chinese car. Quite attractive on the outside. Automatic transmission.
We went to see the Pacific Ocean. The coastline here is very beautiful. 9 a.m. Cold, overcast, and very windy.
Serzhik and Chery Tiggo.
Passing through the outskirts of Antofagasta. High-rises mixed with slums. And almost no trees. How do they live here?...
Next, we drive to the town of Calama. Around us is the endless desert. Around noon, it became sunny and hot.
We made a stop at a gas station. We’re drinking sweet coffee with bread.
Our accommodation in Kalamata. A small apartment in a high-rise building.
After resting a little, we headed to the supermarket. Along the way, we saw many interesting things, for example, the local market.
Kalama is a city, but it feels like a big village.
One of the main streets in Kalami. In the city center.
It’s better to buy vegetables and fruits in small specialty shops :)
Our purchases. By the way, Chile has pretty good bread. Unlike Peru.
