Chile 2023

Days 37-38: November 7-8

Bariloche

Chile 2023

Itinerary

Today we are moving to another hotel.

Since check-in is only after lunch, in the morning we’re going for a walk in Bariloche.

It’s a fairly large city. The center is so-so, but better than the others.

There are many souvenir shops, cafes, and restaurants here.

They also sell a lot of chocolate (the chocolate is pretty good, but Swiss Lindt is still better, no matter how you look at it).

It seemed to me that the chocolate here is purely for tourists.

Serzhyk ordered a hamburger, and I ordered a Caesar salad. It was delicious :) Sometimes it’s nice to eat at a café when everything works out.

Today we have a large room, with a separate living room with a kitchen and a separate bedroom.

I liked it here, Serzhyk agreed to stay here for one more night.

Finally, you can relax. The bedroom has a beautiful view of the lake.

November 8, a day of “almost rest.”

I just wanted to spend the whole day sitting in the hotel.

But we had to go see a notary.

The company where we rented the car sent us a bill for $450 for the broken windshield.

They said that if we filled out some tricky paper with the notary, we could pay $350 instead of $450.

So we went to the notary. Bariloche is actually a good city for that.

The notary spoke to us very kindly.

But he said he couldn’t sign this paper because the paper was in Spanish, and we don’t know Spanish.

By law, that’s not allowed..

In the end, the lady from the company where we rented the car agreed to sort everything out without this paper...

Returned from the notary. Drinking Argentine wine.

Teapot. Almost ordinary. Didn’t notice anything?

In Argentina, all kettles have this "dial" marked with a calabash.

According to the rules, mate should be poured with water at 85°C.

So this thing lets you choose the temperature — either real boiling water or water for mate.
