Eating Pomegranates
Fez - Chefchaouen
Morocco, 2018
The road to Chefchaouen begins with some narrow country lane. Apparently, we chose the slightly wrong route. Fortunately, after about 20 kilometers, the road merges into the main highway — it’s better and wider.
Pomegranates are sold along the road. We buy some and eat two right away. They’re all so sweet and delicious here. And the color is very unusual — yellow.

We arrive in Chefchaouen during the day and immediately go for a walk. Chefchaouen is an amazing city - all the houses in the medina are painted blue in every possible shade - from light blue to dark blue. It turns out to be so beautiful!

Blue-Blue Chaven
The medina in Chefchaouen is located on a hillside. We keep going up and down all the time. The town is so magnificent that we simply wander around aimlessly, enjoying it. Palm trees in tubs stand right on the streets here, and plants in pots hang on the walls. Everything is done with such love, every little detail.

A little street in Chefchaouen
I really wasn’t expecting anything from this city; I couldn’t understand what could be so special about it that everyone likes it so much. And the little town really turned out to be simply wonderful. Even Volchy liked it; he kept walking around and muttering to himself, “Yes, it really is great here.”

The doors here are also very beautiful
There are a lot of cats in the city. They are everywhere here.
We are having lunch in a small restaurant right in the center - soup, tagine, tea - everything is very tasty. I especially liked the tagine.

In Chefchaouen, ordinary people live. They dry their clothes.
We return to the hotel to rest, while Volchy has some work to do. In the evening, we head out for a walk again.
In the evening, all the lanterns are lit, and the little town looks even more like a fairy tale. Volchy went for a walk in a djellaba. This does not go unnoticed by the locals, who all very kindly say that it is a very cool djellaba.

In general, you feel so calm and good here. We wander around the city at night for a long time. Souvenir shops are closing before our eyes. We buy very tasty cookies.

We drink mint tea in a small cozy square. The locals are watching football and drinking tea too. We head home quite late by Moroccan standards.
