First trip to India, January 2015

Day 17, January 25

Udaipur – Jag Mandir Palace

First trip to India, January 2015

Itinerary

In the morning, we were called in our room and informed that we could move to another room. We moved our things and had some tea. The room turned out to be nice, with a view of the lake as promised.

Then we went for a walk. We had no particular destination in mind.

While wandering down some little street, we saw pies being fried in a large vat. We decided to have a snack.

We wanted to buy Wolf some pants because his had completely torn. Finding pants in India turned out to be no easy task. In the end, we wandered into some market where Indians were buying clothes, and Wolf spotted a very nice pair of pants with pockets for himself — just as he wanted. After trying on about 7 different colors and styles, we finally chose the most suitable ones and, pleased with the purchase, went on our way.

Day 17, January 25

Not far from the bazaar there was an entrance to the Jag Mandir palace, which we saw yesterday from the restaurant. It turned out that for just 30 rupees per person, you could walk around its grounds and exit on the other side — not far from our hotel. The palace turned out to be luxurious — the buildings in Indian style with carved balconies looked like something out of a fairy tale. A beautiful main square with fountains. The palace offers a beautiful view of Lake Pichola with the Lake Palace of white marble in the center, where a hotel is now located. The Lake Palace did not make the proper impression — it looks much more beautiful in photos than in real life.

We had dinner at our hotel. Once again, we noted that the food there is delicious. We even splurged on beer for 150 rupees (at the current exchange rate, almost 50 UAH for a 650 ml bottle).
