Today it was cloudy all day, but warm. And not a breath of wind. Because of that, it felt as if you were inside some kind of cocoon, and even all the sounds seemed muffled. In the morning we had a leisurely breakfast of tea and biscuits and went to the supermarket. We planned to buy food for the mountains, and the supermarkets along the lake charge way too much. So we wanted to get to a big store in the city itself, farther from the tourist area.
The hotel owner said that you could get to the city on any bus that runs along the road by the lake. So that’s what we did — we got not all the way to the store, but to a bus stop a kilometer away from it. We walked a little.
The store turned out to be quite large. As far as I know, in Nepal the only chain of more or less decent supermarkets is called Bhat Bhateni.
We bought chocolate, nuts, biscuits, sunscreen.
For the past few days I’ve been trying to get sick, with a sore throat and ears. So I started taking antibiotics, and because of that, I probably felt some weakness throughout my body.
So after the store we very luckily found a small café with cozy separate little rooms. We ordered soup and noodles. The portions were huge, so we ate our fill. While eating, we rested and headed back to the hotel.
Though first we wandered to the bus stop to ask about the bus to Besisahar — the trek into the mountains starts from that town. The bus stop was a rather eerie sight. We never found the ticket office, so we asked the men standing near the bus. They said there are buses, and you need to come at 7 in the morning.
