Phuket

Asia 2016

Itinerary

Today we decided to go to a beach 30 km from our hotel. Getting around Phuket is difficult - there are so many cars and mopeds here, and traffic jams everywhere. You have to squeeze between the cars. We got to the beach and found it to be a very beautiful place with fairly clean water. I even saw a few fish, but the water was still a bit murky.

The beach known as “Banana Beach” was worth the 30 km we drove. It’s beautiful here. So peaceful.

Then we went to the beach next to this one — it turned out to be some kind of village where, apparently, Russian tourists are brought. Everyone walking down the street there was Russian. All the restaurants had menus in Russian, and the prices were inflated. By that time we were already hungry, so we had to buy pad thai there — which turned out to be the worst pad thai of our lives… I think even I could have cooked it better. Nevertheless, we ate it while sitting in the boat.

The beach here turned out to be so-so — murky brown water. It’s a shame when they take you all the way to Thailand, and you arrive here — where all the signs are in Russian, there are Russians everywhere, the water is murky, worse than in Odessa. And there’s nothing Thai here at all — except for the palm trees…

Well, we still swam anyway, of course — we didn’t come all this way for nothing, and we even ate pad thai here!
