Day 49, March 7

We live near the boat station, and there was a beautiful view of the boats and the canal from the roof. The boats here are long and very narrow.

Volchiy said that he needed to do some work, and we decided not to plan anything special for today.

After lunch we went out for a walk and stopped to eat at the cheap cafes we had found yesterday.

Then we walked around the village of Nyaung Shwe for a bit. When we were heading back home, a Myanmar man rode up to us on a scooter, said he was a boat driver, and offered to take us around the lake tomorrow. He explained in detail where he would take us, and the price for the trip was exactly what it should be, as I had read. We agreed and arranged to meet him at 8 a.m. near the hotel.
